the creek is the night rain,
quick to rise and quick to drop
(quicker than ever the oldest say)
under the old wooden bridge,
monument to a slower way,
under the steel bridge with its new deck
carrying the numerous from slope to slope,
quicker than ever,
quicker to rust.
